K-9 Mattis Knottie® Plush Dog Toy | Project K-9 Hero

🐾 A Hero Worth Honoring. A Cause Worth Supporting.

Some dogs spend their days chasing tennis balls.

Others spend their lives protecting the people around them.

Meet K-9 Mattis, a decorated German Shepherd whose years of service inspired this special HuggleHounds Knottie® plush dog toy.

From 2015 to 2021, Mattis served alongside his handler, Mark Tappan, working in narcotics detection, tracking, apprehension, and protection.

Together, they assisted in more than 200 arrests.

Mattis received numerous honors recognizing his extraordinary service, including the Purple Heart, Officer of the Year, the AKC Paw of Courage, and the AKC Excellence in Service award.

His story represents the dedication of working dogs who spend their lives serving alongside law enforcement officers and military personnel.

And when their working days are over?

They deserve to be taken care of, too.

That's where Project K-9 Hero comes in.

❤️ Supporting Our Four-Legged Heroes

Project K-9 Hero is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping retired police and military working dogs receive the care they deserve.

Their mission includes helping provide veterinary care, food, and other essential support to retired working dogs.

Their motto says it beautifully:

"Protect Those Who Protected Us."

HuggleHounds created this special K-9 Mattis Knottie® as part of its HuggleCause™ initiative supporting Project K-9 Hero.

It's a meaningful way to celebrate the extraordinary service of working dogs while giving your own four-legged companion something fun to enjoy.

🐾 About Project K-9 Hero

Retirement doesn't always mean an end to expenses for working dogs.

Many retired police and military K-9s require ongoing veterinary treatment, medications, specialized diets, and other care.

Project K-9 Hero works to help these dogs receive support after their years of service.

❤️ A Little Note From Short-N-Sassy

There's something special about a working dog.

They don't understand medals, ceremonies, or recognition.

They just know they have a job to do, a person to protect, and a purpose worth getting up for every morning.

And after years of faithfully showing up?

They deserve a soft place to land.

Here's to the four-legged heroes who gave their best years protecting others. May we always remember to look after them when it's their turn to rest. ❤️
